I See The Light
by Vicki Hall

There was a time when I could sing,
my heart was full of many things.
I saw the light, I sang the praise of God.
But on the way a time arrived
when the light, the gift, they seemed to die.
That's when reality became quite odd.

I hung my harp on the willows there
sat and cried 'cause I could not care;
I couldn't make the gift inside me thrive.
I hung my harp on the willows there
sat and cried 'cause I could not care;
I couldn't make the gift come alive.

Years passed and a silence fell
that seemed to come from the pits of hell,
but the light within me never died.
Rains came and the storms of life
troubled times and a constant strife,
somehow I found in Him a place to hide.

I hung my harp on the willows there
sat and cried 'cause I could not care;
I couldn't make the gift inside me thrive.
I hung my harp on the willows there
sat and cried 'cause I could not care;
I couldn't make the gift come alive.

There in my exile my captors required of me songs,
but I could not sing.
My hand lost her skill and my heart lost her will
to begin.

I saw the light, I sang the praise of God.
I saw the light, I sang the praise of God.

I hung my harp on the willows there
sat and cried 'cause I could not care;
I couldn't make the gift inside me thrive.
I hung my harp on the willows there
sat and cried 'cause I could not care;
I couldn't make the gift come alive.

To my surprise and suddenly,
the gift I yearned for and I grieved
came to life within me with a nod.
I'm feeling things now I never did,
couldn't contain it with a lid.
I see the light, I sing the praise of God.
I see the light, I sing the praise of God.
I see the light, I sing the praise
I see the light, I sing the praise
I see the light, I sing the praise of God.
